Peet Smith is the Managing Director of Risk Mitigation Solutions Africa (Pty) LTD.
He is a specialist in Information Security, IT Audit and IT Governance. Other focus
areas include Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery and Service Management.
He has in excess of 25 years’ experience in performing audit and consulting
assignments both locally and abroad, with exposure to multiple industries in the
public and private sector. He regularly facilitates (local and international) training
workshops on subject matter and is an accredited trainer for COBIT 5 (APMG) and
ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 (PECB).
He holds a number of certifications, including CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) CGEIT
(Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security
Professional). PECB Management System Auditor, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, ISO, 27001 Master and
ISO 22301 Lead Implementer. He also obtained a Project Management Diploma from UNISA.
Peet is a full member of the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium
(ISC)2, www.isc2.org and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)
PETER JOHN FRIELINGHAUS (PETE)
Director of the African Chapter of the Business Continuity Institute (BCI www.thebci.org ), an approved BCI and ISO 22301 Instructor and have been the area representative for Mauritius and surrounding areas since establishing their presence there a number of years ago.
Recently I was awarded the Business Continuity Consultant of the year at the Africa Chapter of BCI annual Awards held in Johannesburg in August and shortlisted for the Global Awards.
In June 2011, I returned from a three year contract as the General Manager of an IT services startup on the island of Mauritius specializing in Business Continuity Management and Off-site ICT Recovery – these unique skills which I’ve developed over the past few years will be put to good use in the opportunities which lie ahead.
My entrepreneurial character and proven track record with previous endeavors, diverse experience and leadership qualities has helped promote ContinuityMauritius Ltd to be a successful leading provider of BCM and off-site recovery services in the region.
My integrity and management qualities along with extensive business experience at all levels and clear strategic direction have proven to be paramount in the success of this venture. My objectives included (among others) the establishment of a head office, training centre and two technical recovery sites complete with data centres and work area recovery facilities.
My strong communication skills have enabled me to teach, articulate and define a clear, powerful and straightforward company message. I am determined, self-disciplined, focused and have the strength of character to uplift my employees, inspiring them to follow in my example. Since returning from Mauritius I have been assisting ContinuitySA as a senior BCM advisor across all the disciplines of BCM both locally in South Africa as well as across all the regional countries south of the Sahara.
It was very enriching and i have gone through the various methods for implementing an internationally recognised Business Continuity Management System in my organisation as per the BCI GPG- Business Continuity Institute Good Practice Guidelines
