About this course

The BCI Writing Business Continuity Plans Course

This one-day course is aimed at those who are tasked with writing Business Continuity Plans for their organisation. It gives practical guidance how to develop appropriate plans for the different areas of the response and recovery structure.

This course assumes that the most useful plans are those developed by those who are going to use them and in the context of managing the sort of incident in which they will be used. It is built around a series of scenario exercises and activities, which enable a set of rudimentary plans to be developed.

The course covers the following topics:

  • The emergency response phase – alert, welfare and communication
  • Incident Management – dealing with the media, assessment and invocation of recovery
  • Activity recovery plans – plan detail and interrelationships
  • Tactical recovery plan – coordinating and troubleshooting the recovery phase
  • What needs doing next? How could the exercises be varied to make the plan more generic?

 Who Should Attend:

Those with a responsibility to develop, use or audit Business Continuity Plans as well as BC professionals or professionals working in association with business operations and organisational resilience colleagues.

Although completion of the BCI’s Foundation Course “The BCI GPG Training Course” is not required, it is strongly recommended for professionals who posses little experience with BCM or BC plans.

The Writing the Business Continuity Plan course follows BS 25999 and ISO 22301 and the BCI’s Good Practice Guidelines.

All course instructors are MBCI certified.

Course format:

The course uses a mixture of presentations, discussion and practical exercises to demonstrate how an exercise-led plan development can be facilitated. A sample departmental plan (for recovery of activities) and extracts from a Tactical plan are included in the materials.

COURSE LENGTH: 1 Day

COURSE FEE: US$ 475.00

Please  Note: These BCI specialist courses are ideally suited for in-house training. It is recommended that delegates first pass the CBCI examination before considering this course.
